●作品によせて

タイのヤオ族の施した刺繍布で、神獣をかたちづくりました。
彼らの祖霊(白虎)は山に住んでいると信じられており、また山の精霊(清竜)は祖霊を守護していると考えられているそうです。

布をしばらく土へ埋めてから掘り起こし、これを蝋型に貼り付けて形成。
蝋は火に任せ、かたちがどこへ向かうか塩梅を見る。
自然を介してそのときどきを観測するように、好奇心を踊らせて制作している。

Tamako Yamada
The cloth is buried in the earth for a while, then dug up and pasted onto a wax mold to form the work.
The wax is left to the fire and I watch to see where the shape will go.
I create with a sense of curiosity, as if I am observing the moment through nature.
