Seeking sign of soil

 

海辺で転がる、すべすべとした陶片のようなもの。庭から出てきた、カリッと錆びたよくわからない塊。

しばらくそのままにしておくと、

布をしばらく土へ埋めてから掘り起こし、これを蝋型に貼り付けて形成。
蝋は火に任せ、かたちがどこへ向かうか塩梅を見る。
自然を介してそのときどきを観測するように、好奇心を踊らせて制作している。

Seeking sign of soil

 

Something that looks like a piece of smooth ceramic rolling on the beach.
A rusty lump from the garden that I don’t figure out what it is.

If you leave it there for a while,
air, water, fire, and soil always add new changes.

 

Tamako Yamada
The cloth is buried in the earth for a while, then dug up and pasted onto a wax mold to form the work.
The wax is left to the fire and I watch to see where the shape will go.
I create with a sense of curiosity, as if I am observing the moment through nature.
